Taylor Swift "Wildest Dreams" (Joseph Kahn, dir.)

Can Taylor Swift and director Joseph Kahn do big and intimate at the same time in a video? Of course, they can. Welcome to Africa for this period piece where Taylor is a classic movie starlet falling into and away from her leading man, Scott Eastwood. Stay tuned through the end, since there's one last chance for romance at the fateful, yet chilly movie premiere.

Justin Bieber "What Do You Mean?" (Brad Furman, dir.)

So Justin’s actually working on making quality videos, right? That’s the lesson coming from this and Mr. Bieber’s recent Moonman-winning video “Where Are U Now.” Here, Brad Furman directs Bieber in a somewhat dangerous liaison with model Xenia Deli. And the result is a further step forward from his early vids. You can sense he’s maturing, which is welcome news to some of us.

2015 MTV VMA Winners

Last night's VMAs proved yet again that Taylor Swift can do anything. She can share the stage and make amends with Nicki Minaj and she can graciously present Kanye West with his Video Vanguard Award. And she can also cede the spotlight to director Joseph Kahn, resulting in an acceptance speech that was biggest primetime VMA look for a director since Hype Williams got his Vanguard, and also the classiest moment of the night.

Taylor and Kahn won every category they were nominated in — except for the technical side — and basically showed that big and ambitious videos get rewarded, both in terms of popularity and awards.

See below for all the winners, even though I kind of agree with Kanye that awards are oftentimes a painfully unfair competition forced upon artists, bruh.
