The Beastie Boys have signed a deal to do a book that is sure to be a multi-media project that pushes the boundaries of what is and what isn't a memoir. But that won't be out for a couple years so the fine folks at PBS have done one of their Blank on Blank animations for a classic radio interview with Mike D, MCA and Ad Rock from 1985 to tide us over. If you aren't clear how long ago 1985 was music-wise, the Beasties were opening for Madonna (whose manager and the police were upset they were M-Fing on stage) and they agree that they are the only white rappers on vinyl. Worth the five and a half minute watch.
Doug Stern also writes music video treatments and drinks brass monkey.
