[via press release]

Pulse Films has announced the appointment of Sarah Park in the role of Executive Producer: Music Videos, a step that will further bolster the US arm of the high-growth, modern-day, global studio.

Having worked in a freelance capacity with Pulse for a number of years, Park’s rich credentials include impressive work for Vitalic, the video for the track “Stamina” subsequently won ‘Best Music Video Award’ at SXSW, while her production of J. Cole’s “She Knows” with Pulse director Sam Pilling secured a prestigious screening at Raindance Film Festival, alongside a ‘Best Urban Video – International’ award at the UK Music Video Awards 2014.

With a specific focus on the music video field, Sarah will be responsible for nurturing Pulse’s portfolio of directors, matching talent with artists and bands to deliver content that pushes boundaries and allows both parties to explore their creativity to the maximum.

Commenting on the appointment Sarah explains; “I am delighted to bejoining Pulse at such an exciting time. Having worked with the team for a number of years, I am thrilled to be a part of their ambitious plans for growth on a global scale.

Pulse’s commitment to innovation and their multi-disciplinary, integrated approach with consistent cross-over between sectors is something that really appealed to me. In this role, I want to both develop new talent, and cross talent over - getting directors with experience in the fields of film, commercials, art and tech to turn their skills to the genre of music, producing videos that will transform what we have come to expect from the medium.”

In a digital world where anyone can upload a video online, Sarah notes that for production companies and artists who wish to remain ahead of the pack, a desire to consistently challenge and evolve how we create and deliver content is essential.

“The music video space is becoming an increasingly saturated market; however, I have always viewed Pulse as being at the forefront of delivering entertainment on a new level. With music videos, elements like interactivity will be a key focus for the future, producing content that engages the viewer on multiple levels. Within such a competitive landscape these technological advances will be key to ensuring music videos continue to have immense relevance within our culture.”

Looking to the future, Sarah will seek to further widen the genres Pulse work within, with a fine balance between indie/underground artists and those considered more mainstream.

Sarah explains: “Pulse have a great relationship with a wealth of talented musicians; however it would be amazing to widen the scope as we continue to grow. There are some visionary acts within the pop, rap, hip hop and even dance arenas that we would love to work with. Pulse is perfectly placed to give these artists a visual expression that will see them step outside of their norm.”

Kira Carstensen, President of Commercials and Music Videos at Pulse expands on the appointment. “Having worked with Sarah for a number of years, we are delighted to have her formally under the Pulse umbrella. Sarah’s skill for producing videos that are both innovative, challenging and award-winning fits perfectly with our own company ethos. As a modern day studio, our recognition across the board within the fields of film, television, branded entertainment and beyond ensures we are able to bring a wealth of different experiences, skills and talent to deliver content that has a distinct edge – cinematic in vision yet artfully produced to ensure solutions are found to adhere to budgets without compromising on the creative. As we continue to grow on a global scale, Sarah’s presence will further enhance our exciting offering within the music video sector.”

Based in the LA office, Sarah will work alongside Kira to continue to evolve Pulse and its musical output.
