NEW RELEASE: Death Cab For Cutie "I Will Follow You..."

into the dark... Death Cab For Cutie
"I Will Follow You Into The Dark"  (Atlantic)

Monkmus, director | Hanako Shimizu, producer | Hornet, production co | James Buckley, DP
Description: Of all the many beautiful songs that make up Death Cab For Cutie's album Plans, "I Will follow You Into the Dark" may be the best example of how a talented songwriter like Ben Gibbard can trigger universal emotions through lyrics that are deeply personal and specific. I will follow you...Animator Monkmus is smart enough to realize that merely giving life to the imagery of the song would be redundant at best and downright trite at worst. Instead, we're taken through the pages of a journal filled with storyboards and drawings that illuminate the theme of not being afraid of life, love and death. Each turn of the page — and each successive viewing of the video — reveals something new, thereby rewarding those willing to take the journey. -- watch "I Will Follow You Through The Dark" (up through Monday, February 27)

NEW RELEASE: Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Gold Lion"

Yeah Yeah yeahs Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Gold Lion"(Interscope)

Patrick Daughters, director | Jasper Thomlinson, producer | Black Dog, production co | Shawn Kim, DP | Akiko Iwakawa / Final Cut Edit, editor
Description: Is there a more primal, necessary element to rock video than fire? Although fire has occasionally fallen out of favor on MTV — most notably due to young viewers who tragically took Beavis' exhortation of "fire!" seriously — the flames burn bright in this simple, yet epic clip from director Patrick Daughters and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Set in what looks like a post-apocalytpic future — think The Road Warrior, or a less bootyfull version of 2Pac and Dr Dre's "California Love" — the dirt-encrusted YYYs perform amidst explosive bursts that eventually form a ring of fire around them. -- watch "Gold Lion" at yeahyeahyeahs.com (registration required)
