NEW RELEASE: Queens Of The Stone Age "3's & 7's"

3s7s One of the complaints about the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez B-movie double feature Grindhouse was that its emphasis of style over substance grew tiresome rather quickly. If you're gonna go full bore into the realm of schlocky '70s sexploitation flicks and bombard the viewer with purposely roughed-up footage and ridiculous plot points, you better be as concise as possible. And, I think that even the biggest fan of the flick will concede that Grindhouse — with an over three hour running time — was anything but concise. Thankfully, the concept works way better as a three minute music video and that's exactly what you get with the new Queens Of The Stone Age clip "3's & 7's." Video director Paul Minor follows the sexploits of a band of gun-toting chicks who equally enjoy killing and stripping. Yes, we're talking boobs and blood, so use your usual NSFW discrection. --> watch "3's & 7's"

NEW RELEASE: Alicia Keys "No One"

AliciaKeys At Mexican restaurants you can usually get a condiment caddy that comes on a rotating lazy-susan with four different sections – one red salsa, one green, sour cream and guacamole. The latest video for Alicia Keys "No One" is just like that, except that the side-dish Zoetrope is the inner-mechanism of a musicbox that spins between various performance set-ups and styling looks rather than delicious chip accouterments.
Director Justin Francis, most often associated with Saline Project, lets Ms Keys look four kinds of beautiful while the four way division also allows the video to show off four different kinds of product placement watches. The video ends with a block party in an alley with rain coming down and an upbeat, celebratory feel that matches the energy of the track. Also, getting Alicia wet actually gives the video a fifth hairstyle. Yahtzee! (review by Doug Stern)--> watch "No One" via YouTube and SonyBMG Musicbox

NEW RELEASE: Vanessa Carlton "Nolita Fairytale"

Vanessa Carlton Nope, it's not deja vu."Nolita Fairlytale" indeed begins exacly like director Marc Klasfeld's breakthrough clip for Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" in which the singer and her piano go traveling far and wide. But, Ms. Carlton isn't looking to replicate the past; She's looking to shatter it , which is exactly what happens to the paino when she jumps out and lets it get smashed by a taxi. Once on foot, Carlton takes the viewer on a tour in and around the Nolita neighborhood which, as any New Yorker knows, has gone from shoddy to stylish over the past decade. This depiction gores beyond that, however, depicting the hood as a true fantasy land filled with giant magic mushrooms, living chess pieces and even mounted police on Unicorns. --> watch "Nolita Fairytale"
