NEW RELEASE: Interpol "No I In Threesome"

Seated beside a dying fire in the cold ruins of an old mansion, Interpol singer Paul Banks listens to the hollow notes played on an unmanned piano. While it may seem like the start of a nifty new horror flick, director Patrick Daughters instead treats us to a visionary and quite literal traipse through the looking glass in the band’s newest effort, “No I in Threesome”. There is no escape from this crumbling edifice, only introspection, as we are guided from the past through the present to an ultimately apocalyptic future in a long tracking shot. Like the song’s theme of a dying relationship, the mansion keeps us moving in an endless cycle where freedom might not be the ultimate desire. NEW RELEASE: Sea Wolf "Winter Windows"

There's a melancholy that runs throughout the music of Alex Brown Church aka Sea Wolf. Tales of gypsy women, forests, falling leaves and anything else that fits your vision of autumnal treachery and missed opportunities. Director Cat Solen captures that in her video for "Winter Windows," but she also includes a bit of homemade whimsy that's also a big part of the slowly burning Sea Wolf mystique. The video plays like a hazy dream. It's as if Alex has awoken with an idea for a song that's so darn magical that it causes, well, it causes some spooky and magical stuff to occur. (Sorry. Your author is in a hazy dream state as well and the powers of description are far from his grasp.) --> watch "Winter Windows" (via MTV Subterraneanblog.com premiere or broadcast premiere on this Sunday/Monday's episode on MTV2 Subterranean)

NEW RELEASE: Juanes "Me Enamora"
Spanish language pop rocker Juanes calls his disillusioned girlfriend's cell, but she's not picking up. Her stuff is in the back seat and she's driving away from him. Luckily, Juanes has pull and he immediately gets a road crew/marching band to block her progress and deliver his message of love via a series of animated high tech signs. Far fetched? Maybe, but Juanes is from Colombia. And as everybody knows, Colombia is a country where the highway department is not just good. It's fabulous. And the directing team Aggressive is known for outlandish greenscreen work and — as you can tell from the before/after shot — this video is yet another fine example of their slick style. --> watch "Me Enamora" (director's cut)
