NEW RELEASE: Mike Jones "Mr. Jones"
Mike Jones vs. Mr. Jones. The former is the real rapper, a once poor guy still comfortable in the culture of the streets. The latter is the public persona of the rap star, a wealthy baron now living in the lap of luxury. It's probably a duality that Jones has dealt with since making a name for himself with the Platinum album Who Is Mike Jones? This split-screen examination focuses on the shared similarities, while showing what's possible when these two sides can coalesce in one personality. And, while you've seen split-screens before, the technical wizzes at Syndrome deserve extra credit for unveiling a steady stream of clever transitions that make it seem like the video's frames are either the pages of a book, or the sides of a cube. --> watch "Mr. Jones"

NEW RELEASE: LCD Soundsystem "North American Scum"
This LCD Soundsystem video mashes up 2001: A Space Odyssey with one of the greatest sci-fi flicks of all time: The US moon landing. Or, maybe it's just an ode to those classic MTV moonman spots, with a DFA flag subbing in for the MTV logo. Either way, it's a pretty fun and smart clip that does the impossible: Not only does it make clear that the epic boredom within a space craft is not too dissimilar from what a rock star faces via countless promotional appearances, but it also features a raygun battle. --> watch "North American Scum"

NEW RELEASE: Mobile "Dusting Down The Stars"
He's moving forward, but she's stuck in reverse. They meet in a field, where a briefcase full of white paint helps accentuate the backwards effect. A rainstorm that soaks it away reinforces the fact that their relationship is pretty much over. Mobile doesn't appear at all, thereby allowing the beautifully shot story to be the focus. --> watch "Dusting Down The Stars"
