WATCH IT: Jamie Lidell "Another Day"

Soulful brit Jamie Lidell walks on lighted cubes down an empty street, a move that recalls Micheal Jackson's stroll through a deserted part of town in "Billie Jean." That's how this new clip from director Timothy Saccenti starts and it's not surprisingly where the familiar scenes end. The saintly and slick Lidell offers a briefcase of lips to a woman with no mouth, a handful of ears to woman who has none, and glasses (eyeballs included) to a woman without eyes. So, even though he may have smoothed out his sound this gospel-tinged piano track, his sensibilities — and Saccenti's visual daring — are as off kilter as ever. NEWS: F'N MTV... New Prime Time Video Debut Show
If you've been muttering "F'n MTV" every time you tune in and see Tila Tequila dry humping some "lucky" man (or woman or object), you may have to change your tune — for the Summer, at least. MTV has officially announced a torrent of music programming that puts the focus on music video premieres, live performances and lots of viewer interaction. Which is why the F'N actually stands for "Feedback" and "New." Not "fuckin'."
The Summer surge begins June 13 with the 8pm ET/PT premiere of weekly music show F'N MTV Premieres… hosted by emo idol Pete Wentz. Each live broadcast will boast exclusive music video debuts, guest appearances and live performances. The premiere episode will feature Panic At The Disco, Snoop Dogg, The Pussycat Dolls, Flo-Rida and The Ting Tings. Other artists confirmed for future episodes are Vampire Weekend, Boys Like Girls and Lil' Wayne. And, for those with HD: MTV Networks' HD channel MHD will be airing weekly F'N MTV Premieres... Live Sets compilations that consist of the live performances from each show.
That's the "New" component of F'N MTV. The "Feedback" starts after the videos air and viewers can visit the F'N section of MTV.com and comment on what they've seen and/or upload videos of their own. Wanna parody the video? One up the original performance? Go on a rant? Go ahead. Record it and upload it to MTV, where you and your peers can vote on their favorites. The best and most popular fan-submitted content will then make its way onto MTV proper .
So, if you need to sum it up easily: F'N MTV is like having an MTV Video Music Awards show every Friday, but with music video debuts instead of awards. The rest is kind of like YouTube, but with a specific music focus and a national cable channel that just may air your masterpiece.
The F'N MTV Premieres show is being executive produced by Dave Sirulnick and Den Of Thieves principal Jesse Ignjatovich — who worked at MTV for 14 years and served a similar role on the most recent MTV VMA telecast. Executives In Charge of music and talent for the show are Amy Doyle and Joanna Bomberg. Garrett English is Executive in Charge, and Jen Jones is the producer. The sponsors are Verizon Wireless and Rhapsody.
Tune in Friday, June 13 @ 8pm for the launch of this potential cure to those Summertime Blues... (bad pun, but a great song)

WATCH IT: Jigsaw Soul "Cockroach Hotel"

A fading Rasputin figure meditates on his lost loves, failed dreams and other assorted demons in this video for the old-timey theatrical act Jigsaw Soul. The location is a strangely stuck in time hotel — think Barton Fink — set along the boardwalk of the classically dilapidated edge of an imaginary Coney Island. The old man's face is peeling away, revealing shreds from a book that could be the story of his life, or a failed attempt at a William Burroughs' novel. Things take an even more surreal turn when he comes across a bride wrapped in a muslin wedding gown that erupts in a whirlwind of pages. None of it is as surreal or weird, however, as the forcefully quirky rhythms of Jigsaw Soul and this brooding Will Oldham meets Dixieland tune. --> watch "Cockroach Hotel"
