NEW RELEASE: Erykah Badu "Honey"

In this debut clip from from her first release in five years, New Amerykah (Part 1), Erykah Badu visits a beloved, but endangered species… the record store. Badu sees her self pictured on various album covers — from the current (Nas' Illmatic) and the classic (Funkadelic's earthbound Maggot Brain and the apposite Ohio Players' Honey) — mouthing the words to this mellow funk joint. During a brief interlude, Ms. Badu pays homage to OutKast's"Hey Ya," complete with a throwback wardrobe and the requisite duplicates of herself. The video by Badu and director Chris Robinson —now aka Mr. Roboto —  is a savvy tribute to popular music and the remaining places that distribute it in its traditional state. NEW RELEASE: Soulja Boy "Yahhh!"

Lightning doesn't usually strike twice, so you can probably rest assured that kids won't be yelling, "yahh, trick, yahh!!!!" the same way they did that Crank Dat Soulja Boy dance. Don't breathe too easy tho: The Noid-like Soulja Boy doppelganger seems clever enough to wind up on store shelves in a talking version, thus providing a replacement for my long lost Master P talkie doll. The actual Soulja Boy is in the video as well, alongside his buddy Arab (who seems to not be an Arab, by the way) in a Hype(r) fish-eyed and choppy adventure through the burbs. --> watch "Yahhh!"

Director Robert Hales basically follows the foolproof blueprint of "Home Sweet Home" and "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and delivers a classy and massive b&w recount of the Jonas Brothers on the road. screaming fans, the arenas, the Jesus Christ poses, long bus rides, vocals warm-ups in the bathroom, group prayers and seeing millions of faces, rocking em all, etc, etc, you know the drill. It's a scary, yet entirely wholesome scene and representative of probably the only lucrative market right now in the music world.
