WATCH IT: Kanye West + Spike Jonze "We Were Once A Fairytale" (2x)

At this point, the Kanye West/Spike Jonze mini-movie We Were Once A Fairytale is more notable as an example of a perfectly engineered leak: It was everywhere, then it was nowhere, and now everybody can't stop talking about it. As my friend said: It's a long walk to the store for an ending that's not all dissimilar to the "Who's Gonna Save My Soul" video that Chris Milk directed for Gnarls Barkley. But, any video that involves hamster hara-kiri is worth watching.

My initial take on the video is below, along with some active links... Watch while you can....

Kanye Fairytale Sometimes things get really bad, even for the phenomenally successful, like Kanye West. This short film directed by Spike Jonze stars Kanye in an exaggeration of his "I'mma let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best video all time" mode. We Were Once A Fairytale finds Kanyes as a parody of himself — a boorish drunken lout, starved for attention and/or sex — a kind of sad combination of Tony Clifton and Andrew Dice Clay circa The Day The Laughter Died.  And when this happens, sometimes you have to do something drastic. You have to tear the little wild beast out of your chest and make it slit its own throat. And no, I don't mean that metaphorically. --> watch "We Were Once A Fairytale" via MeFeedia or YahooUK
