Isaac Gracie "Reverie" (Clara Aranovich, dir.)

LA-based Clara’s piece for Isaac Gracie’s ‘Reverie' is a surreal, mysterious & thought-provoking short film which leaves the viewer to interpret the meaning.

“When I think about today’s youth.... The world they’re inheriting is possibly going to be a disastrous one. It’s this feeling that begat this concept.”

The story follows a friendship between a girl who becomes ‘affected’ and her best friend, who in the face of adversity, tries to find a way to continue their lives as normal, in a touching tale of childhood friendship.

Ryuichi Sakamoto "live mix" (Ilona McIlwain, dir.)

LEZ are very proud to share Ilona McIlwain’s directing debut. The film, commissioned by the Tate Modern in partnership with BMW, features a unique performance by 72 year old Japanese actor and performer Min Tanaka. The setting, an incredible fog sculpture by Fujiko Nakaya, provides an eerie and surreal setting for a mesmerising performance.

Complimented by sound from world renowned Ryuichi Sakamoto who scored The Revenant and Ghost in the Shell and lighting by Shiro Takatani from Japanese art collective Dumb Type.

Shooting in India for The Staves "Blood I Bled" (Nick Rutter, dir.)

Shooting in India was an all consuming exhilarating experience, but not without its challenges. The first things you notice are the heat, the golden light and the smell of a vast city, all of which bowl you over in very different ways. Our intention was to shoot most of the video in inner city Mumbai but the insane traffic put a stop to that idea so we had to search further out. We were granted quite incredible access to a suburb about 2 hours drive from central Mumbai in a region called Uran.
