Metronomy—Devon's own Paris-dwelling Joseph Mount—and his drumming companion Anna Prior, lay out their stall at Charles de Gaulle airport. The live set up is stripped, with the conveyor belt looping around, while a troupe of four dancers are set in glorious motion. It's all terribly chic. There are bongos. There are ankle-swinging wide-legged pants. The whole shebang is directed by Colin Solal Cardo.
Head shots a'plenty in this video, where the causalties pile up jut as quickly as the Goodfellas Lola sequence. And as in another fantatastic "kill or be killed" flick, we never find out what's in that briefcase.
Director Colin Solal Cardo hails from La Blogoteque, which specializes in performance videos that truly capture the sense of discovery and surprise that usually gets lost in translation when music hits film. "Gone" is more of a narrative clip, but there's still plenty of mystery and magic as you need to stay tuned until the end to figure out what's happened to the lovely Lianne La Havas.
