WATCH IT: Seether "Careless Whisper"
Director Tony Petrossian pays homage to the glorious 8-bit animation of classic video games in this video for Seether's similarly nostalgic cover of the 1984 Wham hit "Careless Whisper." Most of the game spoofs have Seether character fighting modern day ills — Wall Street greed, swine flu, environmentally irresponsible companies, terrorism, Donald Rumsfeld — but get depicted in recreations of such old school Atari hits as QBert, Dig Dug and Pitfall. --> watch "Careless Whisper"

WATCH IT: Seether "Breakdown"
Seether frontman Shaun Morgan's girlfriend is playing with his head. Literally. She twists and turns his head like a gigantic Rubik's Cube, before eventually opening it up and making sure she's always in his mind. This is the third video directed by Tony Petrossian in support of Seether's album Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces — the others being "Fake It" and "Rise Above This." It's a trilogy that firmly establishes them as the most creative video collabo in mainstream rock. By far. --> watch "Breakdown" (via Yahoo)

NEW RELEASE: People In Planes "Pretty Buildings"

It may be a Pretty Building perhaps, but it's populated by lonely souls who are on the verge of being overwhelmed by their memories and obsessions. Anthemic UK rock act People In Planes provide a fitting soundtrack — they're not in the video — for directing team Walter Robot to unleash a barrage of visuals that make it clear that none of the building's residents have anything close to resembling clarity. We have:
- the young artist looking to her words and drawings for some way out of her depression
- the man seeking to construct a fantasy city out of Styrofoam and sticks on his dining room table (played by artist Bill Barminski, who is also 1/2 of Walter Robot)
- an alienated couple who sit for dinner in silence with a blaring TV between them
A small catharsis comes as the song crescendos, but there's no escape for any of these folks. Their brains are filled with a seemingly unstoppable maelstrom of mixtapes, scissors, TVs and all the other tools they had been relying on for comfort and distraction. --> watch "Pretty Buildings" via Purevolume (Flash) or Quicktime
