Original Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek has passed away at the age of 74. He was suffering from bile duct cancer.
Besides being a hugely influential band both in terms of music and cultural impact, The Doors also established the template for how to manage a band's estate and keep them discoverable for every generation. There was the 1991 Oliver Stone biopic, the criticially acclaimed 2010 documentary When You're Strange, and most recently, an official ipad app featuring nearly everything you need to know about the band.
