WATCH IT: The Roots "How I Got Over"

The purity of the classic '70s soul vibe that The Roots are dishing out on "How I Got Over" is so raw and uncut that putting the word "neo" in front of "soul" seems ridiculous. Directing team BBGun matches that sense of urban reality in this video with a touch of the majestic. The BBGun guys — editor Max Bohichik and cinematographer Alex Bergman — previously shot the initial, ultra-low budget clip for Kid Cudi's "Day & Nite (remix)" and they bring that  same 'polished street aesthetic' for The Roots. Both the track and the video echo  the powerful, orchestrated politi-soul of the classic Shaft. And that is never a bad thing. [review by Doug Stern] --> watch "How I Got Over"
