It's like an award show for 90's music videos! These awards are a joke and show a complete sense of being "out of touch" with good original music videos and craftsmanship. It's really just a money making scheme right? Most expensive submissions i've seen for a contest with an incredibly small field/ audience.

My philosophy on awards shows is that if they bring attention to one deserving, yet overlooked video, its worth it... Arguing about the specifics is probably a notch below sports radio in terms of futility. The Grammys video category is a good example. Theres usually a lot of schlock, but then they surprise you by identifying a true indie video like Memory Tapes Yes I Know for a nomination, bringing it to the attention of lots of people who prob never even heard of it. Theres a lot of those sorts of picks here in the MVPA nominations. I love the Evelyn Evelyn video and its also about as indie as you get. For the record: All I do is print the nominations/winners and help publicize the event. Which Im very honored to be able to do. Im not otherwise involved with the nominations or awards process.

The nominees here essentially pay the hefty fees and nominate themselves which is why you see so many of the same production companys nominated.
