Tomorrow We Move To Hawaii "Kill Romance" (Thomas Holtermann Østgaard, dir.)

Tomorrow We Move To Hawaii - Kill Romance (official music video)

Director Thomas Holtermann Østgaard talks about his Cecile Lind video, approproately shot at an art exhibit called, "What the fuck is wrong with visual candy”?

The video is shot on location in the Norwegian artist Cecilie Lind’s exhibition ”What the fuck is wrong with visual candy”. We immediately loved the space she had created. As romance in first glance, it was candy for the eye, but fragile with easily breakable materials. My feel for the essence of the track was how something beautiful can turn ugly - love gone wrong. So, we placed a ugly gorilla among the vulnerable porcelain heads. A current of frustration and anger behind a facade wrapped in golden curtains.

The track is driven by a slow, but energic beat. To mirror that I shot the video in 50fps and played the track double speed on set (yes, Marianne had to sing as a smurf-rapper on speed while shooting), and then of course slowing it down again in post to get this slight "syrup dripping" feeling. The video is a collage of symbols and expressions. In the same way as the exhibition is. You can look at it for quite a while and still find new details, but as someone once said: what the fuck is wrong with audiovisual candy?
