Chaze "Indelible" (Jay One, dir.)

CHAZE "INDELIBLE"

Urban artist and composer, Chaze is a multi-format artist whose trajectory is set between Paris and New York. For his new track INDELIBLE, he immersed himself in 1970’s New York, a time that witnessed the birth of many musical trends such as Disco, one of the bases of electronic music.

After great reviews on his song THIS WAS YOUR TOWN, ode to a disappearing Underground Paris, Chaze brings us INDELIBLE, that dives right into late 1970’s early 80’s New York, back when Disco music was at its peak and graffitis covered surfaces all over town. The synthesizer is therefore omnipresent in this track that uses repetition, as Disco did, to bring out nostalgia in its listeners. INDELIBE, a track both powerful and dreamy, with New York as a background.

Archive images of what 1970’s Undergound New York looked like are quite rare and very little broadcasted (amazing images of graffiti in the 70’s, subway trains and kids playing in a park, roller-skate and disco.)

In order to visually materialize INDELIBLE, Chaze brought out his inner documentalist to gather as many images from that time as he could. In that light, INDELIBLE must be seen as a documentary that shows New York then : a city all at once dynamic, carefree, anarchic and violent, that originated a scent of freedom wildly conductive to creativity. It’s this very creativity that Chaze celebrates through INDELIBLE, a track that will be hard to erase.
