Kamaal Williams "New Heights" (Greg Barnes, dir.)

Kamaal Williams - New Heights (Visions of Aisha Malik) (Official Video)

Greg Barnes new video for Kamaal Williams, shot on 35mm, looks to Kung-Fu for inspiration.

Following the 12-inch release of Kamaal Williams ‘New Heights (Visions of Aisha Malik) / Snitches Brew’ in December, Black Focus Records present the accompanying epic motion picture.

Kamaal Williams is the latest project led by prolific south London based artist Henry Wu. Also known as one half of Yussef Kamaal, Wu released a landmark album for British jazz with 2016’s Black Focus. This latest collective continues the tradition of fusing jazz with the streets sounds of London,

“2019 is all about making movies… Bruce Lee was a huge inspiration growing up because he was the first Chinese guy on the big screen,” states Henry Wu aka Kamaal Williams, who’s currently on tour in the USA. “I feel like music and martial arts have the same flow of energy and are respective art forms. So why not bring Wu Funk and kung Fu together?”

Greg Barnes adds “Kamaal doesn’t make music, he makes soundtracks, and it’s inspiring to work with him in such a shared vision - especially if it means shooting some Kung Fu on 35mm film.”
