MTV ALERT: VMA 2005 Winners

The 2005 MTV Video Music Awards were all about Green Day. They opened the show with a pyrotechnic performance of "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" and proceeded to win seven awards, including Video Of The Year. Don't be surprised if their new video, "Wake Me Up When September Ends" wins more than a few at next year's festivities.

Here are all the winners for the 2005 MTV VMAs:

MTV VMAs on Sunday

The MTV Video Music Awards will kick off this Sunday with a pre-show special at 6pm EST, followed by the main event at 8pm. Diddy is the host. Performers include 50 Cent, R. Kelly, Coldplay, The Killers, Green Day and Kelly Clarkson. Coverage will also be continued on MTV's Overdrive online platform with on-demand access to performances, arrival footage and even some exclusive content.

Chance of rain: 60%. Chance of hurricane: Don't ask.  Everything looks ok for Sunday, but many flights were cancelled, as were a good number of MTV's preliminary parties and performances.

Award predictions? Last year's show ended with a giant "Choose Or Lose" performance. We lost. A small, but fitting revenge would be to see Green Day pick up a bunch Moon Men. That said, don't discount Kanye West, who got shut out at the 2004 VMAs.
