NEWS: UPN and WB Networks to Merge

It's being reported that TV channels WB and UPN will shut down and merge into a new channel called The CW.

Expected to launch this fall, The CW will be a 50/50 joint venture between CBS and Warner Bros, who respectively own UPN and The WB. Confirmed stations to be joining the network include WGN in Chicago, KTLA in Los Angeles, and WPIX in New York.

On the music video front, it's unclear how this pending change will affect the many music video shows that air on various WB and UPN carriers. It's also unclear what will happen with UPN and WB stations that do not join the CW network.
