NEW RELEASE: Expatriate "Play A Part"

There's a beauty in stillness, simplicity, and especially, in things that can't be completely controlled. Director Kris Moyes hits on all three in this slo-mo video for Aussie new wave rockers Expatriate. The band members mostly stand around as if in shocked silence, while the kinetic on-screen elements are restricted to items that have lives of their own, such as a ball of fire engulfing a fist and a sheet of satiny fabric billowing in the wind. --> watch "Play A Part"

NEW RELEASE: LAX "Ride Like This"

The impressionable youths of hip-hop group LAX flip through a magazine and dream that they're able to live the baller lifetsyle — fancy cars, private jets, posh nightclubs — that's depicted on the glossy pages. Some day, boys, some day. --> watch "Ride Like This"

NEW RELEASE: Dan Deacon "Big Big Big Big Big"

Philosopher David St. Hubbins once said, "It's such a fine line between stupid and clever." Some people carefully toe that line. Director Allen Cordell and electro artist Dan Deacon trounce it like a NARC at a biker rally. This pastiche of random images and outright silliness plays like a bizarro kaleidoscope for a halfwit. In other words, it's a whole lotta fun. --> watch "Big Big Big Big Big"
