COMMENTARY: VEVO Is Alive

Before I formally direct you all to check out VEVO.com, let me ask a question.

Anyone remember PluggedIn.com? Big online music video initiative pushed by UMG with content from all the major labels except WMG? High quality videos. Big investors, big money. Anyone? It was launched in 2008. I even wrote about it here.

WATCH IT: Bowling For Soup "No Hablo Ingles"

This little write-up got delayed because I wanted to get Lou Dobbs to review it for the site. I though he could spout off some nicely nativistic (ed: That's the fancy word for hating foreigners) rant about illegal immigrants and their refusal to assimilate and all that other nonsense he used to complain about as "old scared and angry man-in-residence" at CNN. Alas, he was busy retracting all those views as he repositions himself as a politician. Anyway.

WATCH IT: Oh No Ono "Swim"

If your first sexual experience is prematurely ejaculating while watching a sexy nurse give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to one of her fallen co-workers, chances are you will grow up to have a nurse fetish. This conceptual video for Danish band Oh No Ono (sorry, Yoko) plays like a creepy after school TV movie from the '70s, but with a softcore twist that illustrates one way to get over a fear of hospitals. --> watch "Swim"

WATCH IT: Omar Rodriguez Lopez "Asco..."

Being that the song title "Asco Que Conmueve Los Puntos Erógenos" translates into something somewhat dirty, it shouldn't be a surprise that Mars Volta member Omar Rodriguez Lopez has sex on his mind here. That said, this is a video full of surprises. The first is Lopez's willingness to out marriage before sex out of respect for his religious lover (played by Mexican singet Ximena Sariñana).
