WATCH IT: Miley Cyrus "Can't Be Tamed" (Robert Hales, dir.)

Miley Cyrus makes her "I'm all growns up" move with this dark and stylish video from director Robert Hales. Going with a bird/caged/sing metaphor, Cyrus uses ravenous (pun intended) wings to shield herself from view from all the gawkers, before finding a little release by strutting thru the halls of a natural history museum with a troupe of dancers. And, although I'm loathe to admit this is in my memory banks, it kind of reminds me of the Motley Crue  1997 comeback video, "Afraid", directed by Nancy Bardawil. --> "Can't Be Tamed"

WATCH IT: The Black Keys "Tighten Up" (Chris Marrs Piliero, dir.)

This Black Keys video may be a sitcom set-up, but it's a good sitcom. A single camera, no laughtrack, bitingly sarcastic, yet heartfelt sitcom about being immature forever. The action takes place on a playground, where first the Black Key kids and then the Black Keys themselves find themselves in fierce competition over the attention of age-appropriate ladies. --> watch "Tighten Up"

WATCH IT: The Mynabirds "Numbers Don't Lie" (Alan Tanner, dir.)

The Mynabirds are on a mission to cheer up a sad sack bowling alley attendant. Balloons. Streamers. Confetti. Turns out he probably just needed a beer, but their daylong efforts and this super-poppy throwback song surely helped ensure that things ended up on a positive note. --> watch "Numbers Don't Lie"
