NEW RELEASE: Dntel "The Distance"

Dntel Here's a music video concept that we don't see often: Life-size puppets! I'm not sure anyone has tried making a video with humanoid puppets since Herbie Hancock's "Rockit," but if anyone can pull it off it's super-skilled stop-motion romantic Adam Bizanski. The director uses Dntel's dreamy soundscape as a backdrop for the story of two traveling performers who play their music for a few of the locals. As they check their things into a hotel and perform for the crowd, they are shadowed by a couple of black-clothed, silhouetted Kuroko puppeteers who've got their arms stuck in some uncomfortable places. It's a charmer, as is the song. Postal Service fans in particular should go for this: Dntel is the alter-ego of Postal Service member Jimmy Tamborello, but with a boatload of guest singers in place of Ben Gibbard. This track features Arthur & Yu, while other participants include Conor Oberst and Jenny Lewis. (review by Kevin Holy) --> watch "The Distance"
