NEW RELEASE: The Grouch "Artsy"

GrouchGrouch Even though most of these "you ain't artier than me" claims seem like a nice way of questioning the sexuality of the prototypical Los Angeles hipster, it's hard to bear a grudge against a Bay Area rapper who knowingly calls himself The Grouch and is able to deliver a litany of incisive, yet invective one-liners that would work well in the Borscht Belt or a battle rap. Directing duo Secret History of the design squad Buildestroy and film collective ReelRoots carries the same battle mentality to this video. "Artier" takes on some much more prominent and higher budgeted TV content by emulating and skewering those iTunes silhouette and HP hands commercials, in addition to the Gnarls Barkley "Crazy" Rorschach video test. It's all pretty sharp, thus explaining why this underground clip was recently recognized with an MVPA nomination in the Best Hip-Hop category. --> watch "Artsy"
