Description: A perfect example of how a simple video can pull a good song into even sharper focus. "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" begins with a handrwritten dedication from Bono to his father. Bono starts the song all on his own while walking along the streets of Dublin where he grew up. The backing track eventually fades in and the video shows the band performing against a white backdrop. Bono stops by what is apparently his childhood home on Dublin's Cedarwood Road before joining the band just as the white scrim rolls up to reveal that they're in the city's ornate Gaiety Theatre. Director Phil Joanou previously worked with U2 on their feature film Rattle & Hum.
