WATCH IT: The Ting Tings "Shut Up & Let Me Go"

TingTings The Ting Tings are a vortex of catchiness."Shut Up And Let Me Go" is a hooky little blast of post-punk funk, bringing to mind a less exotic version of Tom Tom Club "Genius Of Love" — something the band appropriately big-upped when introducing the world premiere of this video on MTV's FN MTV premieres show. (PS: My buddy rightly points out that the funky vamp that drives the song has much more in common with opening track "Dance - Pt. 1" off The Rolling Stones Emotional Rescue.) Anyway, back to the theme of  "vortex," which is exactly how this dizzying and dazzling video is structured. Band mates Katie White and Jules De Martino cup their hands and encircle their arms to form shapes that serve as transition points for the video to get zoom into and onto the next scene. It's similar to the White Stripes video "Seven Nation Army" — directed by Alex And Martin, no relation to the Alex and Liane who directed this one — but with an 80s style and some Wire-Fu battle sequences that embody the kiss-off song lyrics and gives this fantastic clip a style all its own. --> watch "Shut Up And Let Me Go" via MTV Premiere or Quicktime (via the Alex and Liane site)
