Director Sami Abdou of the Faux Real creative crew brings a touch of high art to match the similarly high brow aspirations of "Dear Langston" ( a shout-out, of course, to the poet Langston Hughes). Crisp footage of rapper 5th Ave from Delorean delivering rhymes to the camera around town is mixed with on-the-scene portraiture shots that reference various classic painting (the most obvious, i.e. the only one I would cite with any confidence, being Girl With A Pearl Earring). A little research reveals that the direct influence is actually contemporary painter Kehinde Wiley, but I'll stick with my old-school reading. --> watch "Dear Langston"
