Fitting six inarguably big artists and film footage into one video might seem like a suicide mission, but "Sucker For Pain" manages to cover all the bases with Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, Ty Dolla $ign, Logic, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and X-Ambassadors singer Sam Harris — each getting individual set-ups that are all inspired, or directly tied-into this Summer's anti-hero flick, Suicide Squad.
When the reflection reveals someone different and you're in a duet with yourself... So it goes in this modernist piano performance by Birdy which nails the emotions of The Fault In Our Stars without subjecting us to random film footage.
Christina Perri isn't really herself, or only Human, in this first video off new album, Head Or Heart. The first tipoff is the lack of her prominent tattoos, but it's the flashes of a robotic skeleton that are most revealing.
Director Elliott Sellers delivers a nicely shot and constructed performance video for "Modern Jesus" — which perhaps works as a nice match to the previous video for the song directed by AG Rojas, which was highly conceptural (and amazing). The setting instanly signifies Church, but there's also something about the video/song which brings to mind "Wonderwall" (maybe it's the glasses?) who were bigger than The Beatles and in turn bigger than Jesus. (I kid, of course)
