Best Lyric VMA Winner: 5 Seconds Of Summer "Don't Wait" (Sophia Ray, dir.)

This 5 Seconds of Summer lyric video for "Don't Wait" recently won MTV VMA's inaugural Best Lyric Video thanks to over 78 million votes, thus proving that kids like to read and vote. Who knew?

The clip is essentially a Pop comic homage — splitting the difference, maybe, between Lichtenstein and Kirby — created in After Effects.

All About She "Higher" (James Barber, dir.)

James Barber delivers this stunning documentary style video for hot new production outfit All About She (Atlantic). Shot over two days in Brooklyn and Harlem, the two main actors are both dancers in real life – but are from very different backgrounds – the narrative captures their story using their real backgrounds and families as context in a brilliantly considered and engaging fashion. Wretch 32 "Blackout" (James Barber, dir.)

Wretch 32 ft Shakka - 'Blackout' (Official Video) (Out 12.05.13)

James Barber continues his relationship with rapper Wretch 32 in directing this visually stunning video for the brand new track from his latest album. The new video for 'Blackout' is a heavily art directed piece creating a  stylised, textural, mesmeric and dreamy set.  James followed an almost meteorological theme, creating a sun setup (influenced by Olafur Eliasson’s weather project from the Tate Modern)  as well as a  colder more dramatic lightning setup and a rain setup too.
