WATCH IT: Modern Tapes "Stranded" (Nir Ben Jacob, dir.)

Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Director Nir Ben Jacob augments some archival films of 50's Cold War Hysteria with dialogue, thought bubbles and band performance in the style of "Buddy Holly," to deliver a story about not letting nuclear destruction derail a sockhop. A nice fit for The Modern Tapes, a band that formed in an underground bomb shelter near Tel Aviv. --> watch "Stranded"

WATCH IT: Nero "Reaching Out" (Johanna Andersson, dir.)

This is what the 2006 Miami Vice remake should've been: All swagger, no stars, and nothing but the opening credits. The video for UK electro act Nero  pays tribute to the old VHS days of '80s TV, creating something that seems outlandish and surreal, but is no weirder than some actual examples from the time period. Automan, anyone? --> watch "Reaching Out"
