NEW RELEASE: Burning Tree Project "Hero"

preggers Mr. 30frames had a guest post at Video Static about "the return to amateurism." It wasn't a slam against those making videos with the same DIY ethos that created some of my favorite music, but rather a eulogy of sorts for the decreasing need for the high end, big budget videos that defined the medium for so long. This clip for unsigned aggro/emo/whatever rockers Burning Tree Project was made by similarly unsigned director Jake Shelton with a prosumer HD camera, a high speed digital camer and a $1,000 budget. The results aren't what you'd get from a full-on big-money video, but it's hard to think that everyone involved here isn't rightfully and damn happy about the video. Shot in Shelton's house, the video shows the generational conflict that ensues in a household when Papa gets angry that his daughter is growing up, making mistakes, and— more specifically — is in trouble deep and keeping the baby. As always is the case in a music video, our protagonist's release comes in the form of the song. --> watch "Hero"
