Some rock stars collect venereal diseases on tour. Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett collects old Soviet film reels. And within those archives, he stumbled upon something of epic proportions. Well, not really. But, that's the ruse behind this immersive video and accompanying campaign engineered by director Roboshobo. The approximately 9-minute video imagines a secret Soviet plan to renanimate dead tissue and unleash murderous zombies to attack the USA. In addition to this imaginative and beautifully executed video that blends live action, animation and a wealth of effects and tricks to create a convincing alternate world, there is also a full viral push to set it up: YouTube posts, bogus news stories and a "new Kremlinology" blog.
