OMA Awards Video Nominations

MTV/Vh1/CMT's O Music Awards are meant to be cheeky — Favorite Musical Cat is a category — but damned if their video categories aren't a good reflection of both the "now" and the "next" for music videos...

The "now" is NSFW, clearly, with artists as mainstream as John Legend taking advantage of the liberties that are allowed on the Internet. The "next" is interactivity, with artists realizing that the internet also allowes you to break out of the box and deliver experiences not possible on your TV.

Here's what's up for those two categories:

Too Much Ass for TV

David Bowie, “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” (Floria Sigismondi, dir.)
Sigur Ros, “Valtari” (Christian Larson, dir.)
DIIV, “Wait” (Sandy Kim, dir.)
Frank Ocean, “Pyramids” (Nabil, dir.)
Robin Thicke, “Blurred Lines” (Diane Martel, dir.)

Best Interactive Music Video

Linkin Park, “Lost in the Echo” (Jason Zada, dir.)
Beck & Chris Milk, “Sound and Vision” (Chris Milk, dir.)
Tanlines, “Not The Same
Miranda Lambert, “Fastest Girl in Town” (Trey Fanjoy, dir.)
Yung Jake, “e.m.-bed.de/d” (Yung Jake, dir.
