Beatles_abbey

The Beatles may predate the video age, but there's plenty of content to easily fill the 9 Days Of Beatles programming bonanza that Vh1 and Vh1 Classic have put in motion leading up to the September 9 (9/9/9, get it?) MTV Games release of The Beatles: Rock Band.

Content includes:

  • The exhaustive and officially sanctioned documentary series The Beatles Anthology, with a trove of rare material and participation from all living members of the band. The three part series is running at various times, simulcast on both Vh1 and Vh1 Classic.
  • The Beatles Retrospective: A collection of Beatles videos, including "She Loves You/I Wanna Hold Your Hand," "You're Gonna Lose That Girl," "Penny Lane," "Revolution," "When I'm 64," "I Am The Walrus" and "Hey Bulldog." Hosted by original MTV VJ Mark Goodman. (Tuesday, September 1 at 8PM on Vh1 Classic)
  • The Beatles movies Help! (Tuesday, September 1 at 9 PM) and A Hard Day's Night (Thursday, September 3 at 9PM) on Vh1 Classic
  • Post-Beatles longform content also includes Paul McCartney: St Petersburg Live, John Lennon Live in NYC, The Concert For Bangladesh Revisited and Ringo Starr: Storytellers.

Check the official press release or visit Vh1 Classic for schedules and more details.

MTV and Vh1 are also airing Beatles short form content throughout their programming. Some of the gems include:

  • The "I Saw Her Standing There" performance from The Ed Sullivan Show
  • "Two Of Us" and "One After 909" pulled from the Let It Be film, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg
  • "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "It's All Too Much" from the Yellow Submarine film, directed by George Dunning and featuring the artwork of the recently deceased Heinz Edelmann
  • "Free As A Bird" music video from 1995, directed by Joe Pytka

Watch these and six other clips at at a special Beatles Vintage Videos playlist at MTV.com...
