Against Me! Singer Comes Out As Transgender

There's lots of sentiment about going against the grain in the Against Me! videography, but no evidence that frontperson Tom Gabel was grappling with gender dysphoria issues — which was announced, along with intentions to begin living as a woman under the name Laura Jane Grace via Rolling Stone. Musically, the hints were more than just hints: tracks like "The Ocean" — which actually includes the lyrics "And if I could have chosen, I would have been born a woman; My mother once told me she would have named me Laura" — and "Transgender Dysphoria Blues" couldn't present it any clearer.
