WATCH IT: Ice Cube "I Rep That West" (Gabriel Hart, dir.)

Having already established his Westside dominance, Ice Cube takes his low rider back to the Wild Wild West in this video for "I Rep That West". Director Gabriel Hart keeps it serious, making connections between the lawlessness of the presence day and the not so distant past. The only question is whether Ice Cube has traveled back in time to restore order or to show them how a gangsta would roll. --> watch "I Rep That West"

WATCH IT: Ke$ha "Take It Off" (Paul Hunter/Dori Oskowitz, dir.)

Ke$sha and her crew take over a seedy motel for a debauched party that devolves into a cloud of powder. Although that sounds like a typical day in the life of starlet, directors Dori Oskowitz and Paul Hunter go for a look that's more Beyond Thunderdome than anything retro/kitschy, and the powder in question is a multi-colored sort of stardust that exists at the core of everyone in the video. Bonus points: The song itself interpolates "There's A Place In France", which lead me to wiki it and learn that there are even more inappropriate variations to the lyrics I knew growing up. song. Cool.
