I was watching this new Hodgy Beats video — which I like — and thought the cardboard props looked a lot like the work of art and video duo Walter Robot. And sure enough: that's the exact set-up at Walter Robot's recent gallery show at L.A.'s Known Gallery and clearly where they shot the video. 

So, use this as a chance to also check out Walter Robot's work if that set-up is what specifically grabs your attention.

Ther are bodies in motion here. One is JT, but the others are naked women, writhing as they emerge from the haze and then as they serve as human projection screens.

Celebrate July 4 with MTV, Vh1 and CMT Special Music Programming

Sure you can set you DVR, but I say wake up at 6am on July 4th and tune into MTV, Vh1, or CMT for 12 hours of music videos and other content from independent artists.

The holy trinity of Viacom Music Video channels put the focus back on music for a 12 hour stunt that will feature music from all genres, with a special emphasis on new acts from all genres.

Each channel will put its own spin on things:

2013 UK MVA Call For Entries

The annual UK MVA (Music Video Awards) is now accepting entries for consideration in its 2013 program.

There are numerous categories, with separate UK, International and Budget subdivisions for the main fields:

  • best pop video
  • best indie/rock video
  • best dance video
  • best alternative video
  • best urban video

All categories are open to videos completed and released between August 1, 2012, and July 13, 2013. Entries cost £65 + vat each and you can enter up until August 2, 2013. More info at the UKMVA.com entry page.
