The new HBO series Tell Me You Love Me seems engineered to shock. And shock me it does, though not in the way the producers probably intended. 1) It made me realize that real life drama between scenes of hardcore fucking is even duller than the usual porn plot procedurals and 2) it forced me to finally acknowledge the fact that old people are people too and they have dirty, nasty, hot sex. This new video doesn't feature any sex scenes or boring narrative elements, but it plays on the same theme of love coming (no pun intended) in all shapes and sizes and ages. After an introductory shot which seems like that old "two faces or a goblet" optical illusion, the video settles into a procession of couples posing for portraiture shots while singer/songwriter Tom Baxter strums out this tune. Things take a nice little twist toward the end when the camera reveals that these lovebirds are all passersby who decided to step in front of the white cyc which had been set up for the shoot on a London street. --> watch "Better" plus a "Making Of"
