MTV will be bringing the annual MTV Video Music Awards to L.A.'s Staples Center for the first time ever. Also a change of pace is the moving of the show from its usual Sunday night schedule to Thursday, September 6.

The MTV Video Music Awards have graced the airwaves since 1984, hosting performances and infamous moment from a who's who of music stars that runs the gamut from Madonna to Michael Jackson, Nirvana to Guns N Roses and, of course, Kanye West to Taylor Swift. 

There's lots of sentiment about going against the grain in the Against Me! videography, but no evidence that frontperson Tom Gabel was grappling with gender dysphoria issues — which was announced, along with intentions to begin living as a woman under the name Laura Jane Grace via Rolling Stone.

Voting for the 2012 MVPA Awards is now open to everyone in the professional music video community.

Accepted professional categories in the music video field include:

• directors
• reps
• exec. producers
• producers
• DPs
• editors
• vfx execs and artists
• colorists
• commissioners

This round of voting closes May 5, but all new voting inquiries must be receieved by April 20.

DNA has announced the signing of Tony "Truand" Datis, director of the Skrillex videos "First Of The Month" and "Bangarang".

Datis will be repped by DNA's Isaac Rice with executive producer Missy Galanida.
