WATCH IT: Grimes "Oblivion" (Emily Kai Bock, dir.)

This is a deceptively simple videos that seems like a stunt — Grimes aka Claire Boucher stealthily shoots a video for herself while attending a motocross stadium event — until you have to piece together how all the other elements fit together. That's when you realize that all the scenes we see her crashing are of the macho variety — motocross, a men's locker room, a football game, some sort of bizarre shirtless roughhousing party —and that maybe Grimes wants us to realize that these hetero men are oblivious to their urges to undress and have forceful contact with each other. Girl Power, for the win. --> watch "Oblivion"

WATCH IT: Nite Jewel "One Second Of Love" (Delaney Bishop, dir.)

Worst. Bachelorette. Party. Ever. Or, the weirdest, as the adult entertainers for this soiree are three creepy singer/dancers and a bulheaded dope who looms over the proceedings like some kind of shaman pimp. Things build to a climax, but it's more nasuating than erotic (literally) for our ladies. For the viewer, it's compelling and odd, very odd. --> watch "One Second Of Love"

WATCH IT: Chairlift "Met Before" (Jordan Fish, dir.)

Choices, choices, choices. Director Jordan Fish uses a simple "left or right arrow" interface to lead Chairlift singer Caroline Polachek through many decision points in "Met Again," a title that makes sense in terms of this video's circular, yet increasingly familiar convolutions. And if you dig choosing your own adverture, go check out Andy Grammar's "Keep Your Head Up" from 2010, which offers a different take on the same concept. --> watch "Met Before"
