WATCH IT: Joshua James "Weeds"

Isn't it ironic when the one person who isn't sure if he'll really be saved through religion winds up not getting saved when his baptism goes quite wrong? Don't you think? That's the crux of this beautiful and haunting music video inquiry into salvation and searching and doubt by director Julian Acosta — newly signed to Town Hall, by the way — for singer/songwriter Joshua James. --> watch "Weeds"

WATCH IT: Lorre "The Mother Of Lovers"

Attention, debutantes: Enjoy your dancing and your youth and your beauty. Someday it will all be gone. That strikes me as the message of this deliriously creepy viral vid for Italian post-punk band Lorre, unless director Fabio Capalbo is trying to tell us that the afterlife is an eternal, cheesy Brazilian debutantes ball from the late '80s. Either way, it's strangely compelling, especially when matched with this creepy track about the blood of Christ and other stuff that keeps the kiddies awake at night. --> watch "The Mother Of Lovers"

WATCH IT: Jay-Z f/ Alicia Keys "Empire State Of Mind"

When even the Wall Street Journal is forced to publicly pontificate whether or not "Empire State Of Mind" belongs on the shortlist of truly classic NYC songs, you know that Jay-Z and Alicia Keys have succeeded in creating an instant anthem. The video for the tune is exactly what it oughta be: A modern, rap video update of the defining b&w sightseeing tour that is Woody Allen's classic film, Manhattan.
