WATCH IT: Snoop Dogg "Wet" (Dylan "Pook" Brown, dir.)

Snoop Dogg makes 'em wet in this far beyond suggestive video set in Las Vegas. While most of the clip is Snoop cavorting with women in various locations — ranging from a hot tub to a dry lake bed — and various states of undress, there's a trippy segment in the midde where the track starts to stutter and it seems like Snoop is possessed with spirits as he roams a hotel hallway. Or maybe he's just high. Either way: Lots of eye candy with Snoop in full-on Pimp mode (plus a side-story in which Snoop invites Prince Harry and his brother to Sin City for the festivities) . --> watch "Wet"

WATCH IT: Yuck "Holing Out" (Michael., dir.) [NSFW]

Although this new Yuck video is all sorts of fuzzy and degraded, it's all in terms of the various lo-fi effects that perfectly match the shoegazing tune. That is, until the video reaches it's NSFW climax in which a naked girl gets mauled by a werewolf type thing. --> watch "Holing Out" [NSFW]

WATCH IT: Avril Lavigne "What The Hell" (Marcus Raboy, dir.)

I've long had a theory that music videos are the ideal canary in the coal mine for new technology: Music videos are: easily digestible short-form showcases that led the way in breaking cable TV and online video to the masses. Now that the 3-D age is being foisted upon us, music videos are unsurprisingly being moved into the showcase role. Perhaps since the majority of folks will see this big and slick Avril Lavigne video via traditional means, the  3-D usage is mainly used to establish depth-of-field set-ups — including an opening lingerie shot — that should get eyes a'popping if you happen to view it on one of the many Sony TVs seen throughout.

Sunsets and NATPE

NATPE 2011 was a great success! With Miami sunsets as the backdrop, NATPE presented the latest shows, producers, and technologies in the industry. Each day was filled with informative meetings and speakers – giving the visitors an inside look at the latest from around the world.  Some of the interesting features included new technology that television shows and producers could take advantage of. This included smart phone apps as well as internet streaming on a whole new level. The main layout for NATPE was reminiscent of the early days of NATPE when it was held in Miami years ago. The Fontainebleau Resort was the perfect fit for the new fresh start NATPE was looking for. Anyone you talked to was excited about the location and event. After dark, the fun continued outside on the beautiful lawn reaching out to the beach and sunset.
