Silversun Pickups "Nightlight" (Mark Pellington, dir.)

As befits a song called "Nightlight" there's just a glimmer a light in the otherwise dark reality that we find in this epic music video return by Silversun Pickups. Las Vegas. Boardwalk Empire actress Meg Steedle comes closest to the heart of darkness here, navigating a nightmare filled with sex, death, revenge, paranoia and all the other charms of Las Vegas that don't get mentioned in the ad campaigns.

The Ludlow Thieves "Almost" (Dan Teicher, dir.)

Usually when you see the number 69 in relation to a music video it's for something awesome by Bryan Adams (what, you thought I was going somewhere else?), but in this case it's nearly seven decades of home footage documenting the love/life story of Ludlow Thieves guitarist Dan Teicher's grandparents.

A nice reminder that sometimes an effective music video can be hiding in your archives, and can be highly personal yet univeral.

Markus Schulz "Tomorrow Never Dies" (Olivier Mamet, dir.)

As Markus Schulz applied his vision to 2015 city series track Bombay, dedicated to the Indian capital of Mumbai; the composition would serve a doubly important purpose, with the wonderfully enchanting Australian vocalist VASSY adding the vital ingredient.
