Seis Del Sur - South Bronx At The Dawn Of Hip-Hop

The South Bronx — birthplace of hip-hop: Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc — is the subject of Seis Del Sur, an NYC exhibition by six Nuyorican photographers chronicling the oft neglected borough that found a measure of artistic salvation amongst the ruins.

Looks like a worthy field trip for any New Yorkers who love hip-hop and/or despise Robert Moses.

Seis Del Sur runs January 19 – March 18 at the Bronx Documentary Center, showcasing photos by Joe Conzo, Jr, Ricky Flores, Angel Franco, David Gonzalez, Edwin Pagán, and Francisco Molina Reyes II.
