I believe the director is actually Mr. Marco Puig. The same guy who did "Live Like Were Dying".
Jane's picture
Yeah, I thought Marco Puig was the director as well. Maybe things changed? I hope everything still goes a-ok even with the shoot having been rescheduled... I can't wait to see this video!

Aaron directed the video. They actually shot it yesterday.... PS: Kris Allen has some amazing fans!!

No actually the video got delayed til Monday cuz of the weather and The director is the same one who did LLWD.

Looking forward to this video, especially with some of the intriguing clues from a few of those involved in the video. It will be interesting to see what the concept is for this kind of "duet." Big Kris Allen fan.

If we want to get technical: They were on location and shooting when weather forced them to reschedule the rest of it for a later date. Aaron Platt directing.

Can we get REALLY technical? The Director and Director of Photography are two completely different jobs. The Director is reportedly Mario Puig who is responsible for the entire thing from start to finish. The Director of Photography is responsible for the cinematography, and it's quite probable that Aaron Platt is again doing this. They both worked on Kris Allen's 'Live Like We're Dying' video.

Wow.

I cant wait for this video, and I know the quality will be great like the LLWD. I hope this video will catch up with radio airwaive and Kris tour so people can relate to it.

Steven, I just want to apologize if some of Kris' fans are a little overzealous. It was a couple of weeks back that Kris said in an interview that Marco Puig was going to direct his new video so fans are getting conflicting information. I am sure you have good sources for the information you post. Things change all the time and Kris may have been under the impression that Marco Puig was the director on his video but it changed at some point. It's hard to be a Kris fan because 19/Jive are very secretive about almost everything Kris is involved with. They rarely disclose any information until after the fact. Fans waited months for a new single to be announced and several more months after the song hit radio for a new video. So his fans are a little anxious and the video teasers make it sound epic. Please do not take offense.

Not trying to be argumentative, Steve, so I hope you won't be offended or upset. I'm just going off what Kris himself said in a recent interview, which was that the same person who directed the LLWD video (Marco Puig) is directing this one as well. The shoot was supposed to be yesterday, but was rained out and rescheduled for Monday.

Hey all... I stand by my initial thought, which is that its very cool that youre all so interested in the video. Ive posted something like 6,000 items on this site and very few get any comments, let alone passionate ones. So, no need to apologize for being excited and emotionally invested in this. I wish more people got excited about videos. And that includes me too.... After the first person posted the comment about Marco having directed, I did some more research and triple checked the information. I think i saw the interview youre referring to (at MTV.com, right?), but its from two weeks ago and its really not at all unusual for things to change, even in that small window of time. And, if you really parse the quotes from Kris in that article, its clear that the video wasnt 100% locked down in terms of the final concept and director... So, in short: Ill stand by Aaron as the director. And if Im wrong, Ill very humbly correct it.... But, regardless of who directed it: Videos are a collaborative effort. Theres lots of people involved from the director to the director of photography to the editor to the art department, etc, etc. But, the most important element is the actual recording artist at the center of it... So, I have a feeling youll all be pretty psyched about the video, regardless of who held the camera or yelled cut.

Steven, Thanks for checking into this as well as posting this type of information on music video production. You're right, people (including myself) will be psyched about the actual product no matter who all does the work. I just come from a background where the credits interest me and the job descriptions/titles are important. Both the people mentioned here are extremely talented from what I've seen. While you're digging around, can you find out the desert location and maybe a synopsis? Hah, I don't want much :)

Thanks for your comments, Steven. That's all good to know. Rescheduled again though, I see. :-( I'm sure this is going to be awesome, whenever we finally see it.

Any idea why the reshoot was cancelled today? Plus thank you so much for all the info. Much appreciated. Kris fans are left in the dark about pretty much everything so its nice to get a little info

I personally did not like having to reschedule the mv. Kris is touring and this video could have been a priority so the momentum is still up. Sometime I doubt that kris management is doing this intentionally. It looks like they drag their feet and kris is left behind. Adam is super busy too but he is always ahead of his schedule. WHAT IS GOING ON?
dlj's picture
Well the production designer from the shoot tweeted last night that the video "is moving full force ahead". So hopefully they will get the remainder shot today since Kris goes back on tour 7/21 with no days off until 7/29-7/30. That is too long to wait in my opinion with 2 - 3 wks in post production. You would be looking at mid to late Aug for a release. The song is stalling a bit on radio and needs a boost quick.

Aaron Platt's Coldplay music video is beautifully/artistically rendered. The guy has mad talent. I've no worries about The Truth's success on the charts. This single, like Daughtry's single, will really take off late summer/fall. It's got the end of summer vibe, namely the end of the summer romances and needing to face the truth, parting ways. I think the timing is spot-on and the music video will add emotional impact. I'm really excited to see what Platt has in mind. Puig or Platt, they both are exceptionally talented with a keen artistic eye.

Well Kris confirmed today in an exclusive interview with Jim Cantiello of MTV that Aaron Platt indeed directed his video. It sounds awesome. I think it would have even been more interestin if they could have shot some footage of the monsoon and used it. lol jambajim Monsoons! Sinking pianos! Magical orbs! Find out how @KrisAllen's video shoot turned into a comedy of errors! http://on.mtv.com/bQF8T6

Kris' video is set to be released Monday 8/16 but still no word where. A fan emailed Vevo asking if it would be there and they stated no but it will be available by the end of the week. VH1 has already posted that it will be adding it to the rotation the same day. If you go over to Kris' official website, there is a short 21 sec clip. So we may have to look there first.

The video had its online premier on Yahoo Music or it can be viewed on VH1. Yahoo: http://new.music.yahoo.com/kris-allen/
