As anyone married to Ike Turner could probably tell you, love and happiness are not the same thing. That point is somewhat rebuffed in the video for this soul classic originally made famous by Al Green. Contemporary r&b singer Marc Broussard performs on a set broken into distinct "Love" and "Happiness" sections on which a couple plays out the two emotions. Both sides look pretty good and quite similar, although the warm yellow aura of "Love" contains more scenes of domesticity, while the red zone of "Happiness" is a more passionate experience. The whole endeavor might strike you as a bit quaint, but that's not a dis really, just a sad commentary on our jaded post-modern times. And, getting back to a simpler, more pure and more emotional musical experience was surely part of the inspiration in Broussard's new album, S.O.S: Save Our Soul, a collection of cover tunes that focuses on positive gems from the likes of Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and The Staple Singers. --> watch "Love And Happiness" below (YouTube, baby)
