NEWS: LA Music Video Fest Sunday Jan 23 with MVPA Awards + More

Lamvf_logo The first annual Los Angeles Music Video Festival is slated for this Sunday, January 23 at the Downtown Independent Theater.

Videos will be screened in both student and independent categories, with awards to be decided by a panel that includes:

  • Jen Herrera (Director’s Representative, Las Bandas Be Brave)
  • Yvette Lang-Einczig (Yell Productions)
  • Ryan Singer (Management, Chime Entertainment)
  • Saskia Wilson Brown (DIY Days/Current TV)
  • Coleen Haynes, (Executive Producer, HSI Productions)
  • Danielle Hinde (Owner of Doomsday Entertainment)
  • Saskia Wilson Brown (DIY Days/Current TV)
  • Chris Douridas (KCRW/Music Supervisor)
  • Scott Hillier (Director, European Independent Film Festival)

MVPA AWARDS: In addition, the Music Video production Association (MVPA) will be having a special showcase 5:30 - 7p as a separate event. MVPA awards of distinction will be announced in various music video categories for work produced in 2009/2010. Separate tickets are required and cost $55, but includes entry to the LAMVF closing party/concert.

“LIFE’S A PITCH” WITH VOXHAUL BROADCAST

"Life's a Pitch" is a fast-pitch contest where directors have the opportunity to pitch music video treatments for Voxhaul Broadcast's single "Leaving on the 5th" directly to the band.  The winner will receive a Sony HDW-F900 camera rental package to use in shooting the video.  All the details of the contest including the song can be found at http://on.fb.me/fCIypJ.

KEYONOTE SPEAKERS: Nicholaus Goossen (director),  Nick Swardson (comedian/actor), and actor Simon Rex (aka Dirt Nasty) — Goossen and Swardson will discuss the relationship between comedy and music videos as well as the concept for their upcoming television show, that will combine the two. Rex aka Dirt Nasty will be joining the conversation remotely, to discuss the production of music videos from the artist’s perspective.
