OK, there's not really a Video Static Book Club, but if there were one, we would read Karrine Steffans' memoir Confessions Of A Video Vixen. The book recounts a terribly abusive childhood before segueing to her discovery and then success as a dancing starlet in videos for Jay-Z, R. Kelly, Mystikal, LL Cool J and other hip-hop artists. The book is getting tons of press (see here, here or here) thanks to naming names and providing lots of details about sexual encounters with some of the music world's biggest stars.
Although I usually like my smut disguised as a Philip Roth or John Updike novel, this may make my summer reading list. Buy the book at Amazon.com and let me know your reviews. If there's enough demand, I might even be swayed to create an area where we can discuss the book and share knitting secrets. Won't that be fun?
